Danielle is currently the Vice-Dean in charge of Teaching, Learning, and Students at the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Manchester University. Additionally, she is a Professor of Radio Frequency Engineering, with a background in Astrophysics and a Master’s degree in Radio Astronomy. Her expertise led her to work as a Senior Radio Frequency Engineer at Jodrell Bank Observatory, and later on as a lecturer at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. She earned the distinguished title of Professor at the age of 38. Danielle is actively participating in the Square Kilometre Array, a $1 billion astronomical instrument, where she is involved as a UK lead for amplifiers for the $1 billion Atacama Large Millimeter Array telescope. She has also collaborated with NASA and ESA to develop instrumentation for exploring the Big Bang.
Her contributions are not limited to astronomy; Danielle also partnered with agriculturists to create a unique instrumentation for measuring water usage. Moreover, she has accomplished projects with Rolls-Royce, working on industrial gas turbine engines.
As a notable figure in the field, Danielle had the privilege to present the Royal Institution Christmas Lecture in 2014 and the Cockcroft Rutherford Lecture at The University of Manchester in 2016. Her hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed, and she has been recognized with several awards, such as the Rooke Award from the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2016, the Harold Hartley Medal from the Institute of Measurement and Control in 2017, and the Michael Faraday Award from the Royal Society in 2018.
Her exceptional accomplishments in engineering through public engagement granted her the appointment as a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2016 Birthday Honours.
